The Reading Nest
Website: thereadingnest.in
Effective Date: 4 October 2026
Last Updated: 4 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”, “Agreement”) govern your access to and use of the website thereadingnest.in (“Website”, “Platform”) and the membership, book-rental, delivery, return, exchange and related services provided by The Reading Nest (“The Reading Nest”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By accessing the Website, creating an account, purchasing a membership, selecting a book, using our rental service or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Website or our services.
1. About The Reading Nest
The Reading Nest is a children’s physical-book rental membership service designed to make quality books accessible to families through a membership-based reading experience.
The service allows eligible members to:
- choose a membership plan;
- browse the available book collection;
- select books included within their membership entitlement;
- receive physical books through the applicable delivery/pickup service;
- read the books;
- return or exchange books;
- select further books in accordance with their membership;
- maintain a reading history;
- request books for possible inclusion in the collection.
The Website currently presents this model as:
Choose a membership → explore books → receive books → read → return/exchange → discover another book. The Reading Nest
2. Membership-Only Model
The Reading Nest operates primarily as a membership-based physical book-rental service.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing by The Reading Nest, individual books displayed in the catalogue:
- are not offered for individual purchase;
- do not represent products being sold separately;
- are part of The Reading Nest’s rental/library collection; and
- may be accessed according to the applicable membership plan and availability.
References to prices on individual books, if displayed accidentally or temporarily due to Website configuration, should not be interpreted as creating a right to purchase that book individually.
The membership fee relates to access to the Reading Nest service and the applicable book-rental entitlement; it does not transfer ownership of any physical book to the member.
3. Eligibility
Memberships are intended to be purchased and managed by adults, including parents and legal guardians.
By purchasing a membership, you confirm that:
- You are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement.
- The information provided by you is accurate.
- You are authorized to use the payment method used for the transaction.
- You will use the service in accordance with these Terms.
- You will supervise any child using books supplied under your membership.
Children may use the books provided through a parent’s or guardian’s membership, but the membership agreement is between The Reading Nest and the adult account holder.
4. Account Registration
Certain features may require you to create a customer account.
You agree to provide accurate and current information, including:
- name;
- email;
- mobile number;
- billing information;
- delivery address;
- other information reasonably required to provide the service.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
You should not:
- share your password unnecessarily;
- permit unauthorized persons to use your account;
- create multiple accounts to circumvent membership restrictions;
- provide false information.
The Reading Nest may restrict or suspend an account where there is reasonable evidence of misuse, fraud, unauthorized activity or material breach of these Terms.
5. Membership Plans
The Reading Nest may offer different membership plans based on:
- number of books permitted per week;
- membership duration;
- service area;
- delivery/collection arrangements;
- other benefits specified at the time of purchase.
The membership plans currently promoted by The Reading Nest include different weekly book allowances and quarterly, half-yearly and yearly membership periods.
The exact benefits applicable to you are those displayed on the membership plan page and checkout page at the time you purchase the membership.
6. Membership Entitlement
A membership provides the member with a defined entitlement to access books from the Reading Nest collection.
For example, a plan may provide:
2 Books / Week
or:
3 Books / Week
or:
4 Books / Week
The exact entitlement depends on the plan purchased.
Your entitlement does not mean that every book in the catalogue will be available at every moment.
Book availability may depend on:
- existing rentals;
- reservations;
- physical stock;
- return timing;
- maintenance;
- book condition;
- operational availability.
7. Membership Does Not Mean Ownership
Purchasing a Reading Nest membership does not transfer ownership of books to you.
Books supplied under the service remain the property of The Reading Nest or the relevant rights holder/owner, as applicable.
You receive a temporary right to possess and read the applicable book under the terms of the membership and rental arrangement.
You must return books as required.
You must not:
- sell a rented book;
- give a rented book to another person;
- permanently retain a rented book;
- modify or materially damage a book;
- remove identification markings;
- reproduce the book unlawfully;
- claim ownership over a rented book.
8. Membership Period
Memberships are valid for the period specified at the time of purchase.
Depending on the selected plan, this may be:
- quarterly;
- half-yearly;
- yearly; or
- another period specifically stated at checkout.
Membership access begins according to the activation terms displayed at the time of purchase.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, membership does not automatically continue after its expiry.
9. Membership Renewal
If The Reading Nest introduces automatic renewal for a particular plan, the renewal terms, amount and applicable payment method will be disclosed before the relevant recurring arrangement is established.
If your plan is a prepaid fixed-term membership, the membership ends at the end of the applicable period unless you purchase another membership.
10. Membership Prices
Membership prices are displayed on the Website.
The applicable membership price is the price shown at the time of checkout, subject to applicable taxes, mandatory charges and any clearly disclosed additional fees.
We may change membership prices for future purchases.
A price change will not retroactively change the amount already paid for an active fixed-term membership, unless otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
11. Payment
Membership payments must be completed through the payment methods made available on the Website.
The payment gateway may process payment information independently.
A membership is considered successfully purchased only after the applicable payment provider confirms successful payment and The Reading Nest’s system records the transaction.
If a payment fails, is reversed, charged back or remains incomplete, The Reading Nest may delay or prevent membership activation until the payment issue is resolved.
12. Payment Gateway
The Reading Nest may use an Indian payment gateway such as a supported UPI/card/net-banking payment provider.
The applicable payment provider may have its own terms and privacy policy.
The Reading Nest is not responsible for temporary failures originating solely from a third-party payment provider, bank, card network, UPI system or other payment infrastructure, although we will reasonably assist in resolving transaction-related issues.
13. Book Catalogue
The Website contains a catalogue of physical children’s books.
The catalogue may include categories such as:
- Trending;
- New Arrivals;
- Top Recommended;
- 6–10 Years;
- 11–13 Years;
- 13+ Years;
- stories;
- adventure;
- learning;
- comics;
- other children’s reading categories.
These categories are used to help families discover books. The current Website describes its collection as including age-appropriate stories, adventures, learning books, comics and similar children’s reading material. The Reading Nest
14. Book Availability
Displaying a book on the Website does not guarantee that a particular physical copy will be available at the exact moment you request it.
A book may be temporarily unavailable because:
- another member has it;
- it is reserved;
- it is awaiting return;
- it is being inspected;
- it requires maintenance;
- it has been damaged;
- it is undergoing cataloguing;
- inventory information has not yet updated;
- delivery/collection is in progress.
We may offer another available book where the requested title cannot be supplied.
15. Book Selection
Members may select books according to their membership entitlement and the availability of the relevant physical copy.
The Website may impose reasonable limits on simultaneous selections or active rentals.
These limits may be necessary to:
- manage physical inventory;
- ensure fair access between members;
- prevent excessive reservations;
- ensure books are returned on time.
16. Weekly Book Allowance
Where a membership specifies a weekly allowance, the allowance is associated with the applicable membership period and the rules displayed for that plan.
For example:
3 Books / Week
does not necessarily mean that a member may permanently retain three books indefinitely.
The allowance relates to the number of books the member may select/receive under the applicable rental cycle.
The specific selection and return rules displayed on the Website or communicated by The Reading Nest will apply.
17. No Guarantee of a Specific Title
Membership does not guarantee access to a particular book title at a particular time.
We will make reasonable efforts to maintain a broad and useful collection, but physical inventory is finite.
Where a requested title is unavailable, we may:
- ask you to select another book;
- place the title on a waitlist where available;
- provide the title when a copy becomes available;
- recommend an alternative.
18. Book Requests
The Website provides a Request a New Book facility through which customers can suggest books they would like The Reading Nest to add to its collection. The Reading Nest
A book request:
- is a suggestion;
- does not constitute an order;
- does not guarantee purchase or acquisition;
- does not guarantee availability;
- does not create a right to receive the requested book.
We may consider requests based on:
- demand;
- age suitability;
- availability;
- cost;
- copyright/licensing considerations;
- physical condition;
- educational suitability;
- collection strategy.
19. Delivery Service
The Reading Nest may provide doorstep delivery and collection/pickup depending on the applicable service area.
The current Website promotes doorstep book delivery and easy return/exchange. The Reading Nest
Delivery availability may depend on:
- service area;
- PIN code;
- operational capacity;
- delivery schedules;
- weather;
- public holidays;
- logistics conditions;
- availability of delivery personnel.
20. Service Area
The Reading Nest’s service area may be limited.
The Website currently describes the service as a children’s book-rental service in Navi Mumbai. The Reading Nest
We may expand or modify our service area from time to time.
A customer must provide an address within an eligible service area to use delivery/pickup services.
21. Delivery Timelines
Estimated delivery or pickup timelines may be communicated during the membership/rental process.
Such timelines are estimates rather than absolute guarantees unless expressly stated otherwise.
Delivery may be delayed because of:
- weather;
- traffic;
- public holidays;
- operational disruption;
- incorrect address;
- customer unavailability;
- events beyond our reasonable control;
- third-party logistics issues.
Where a material delay occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to communicate with the customer.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude rights available under applicable consumer law where a service is materially deficient or not delivered as represented. The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules require relevant delivery, return, refund and other consumer-facing information to be clearly disclosed. Consumer Affairs
22. Customer Responsibility for Delivery Information
You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address.
Please ensure that:
- house/flat number is correct;
- society/building name is correct;
- PIN code is correct;
- mobile number is active;
- delivery instructions are accurate.
If a failed delivery occurs because incorrect information was supplied by the customer, additional delivery arrangements or charges may apply where reasonably incurred and legally permissible.
23. Receiving Books
Members should inspect books reasonably promptly after receiving them.
If a book is:
- materially damaged before delivery;
- incorrect;
- missing pages;
- materially defective; or
- otherwise not in reasonably usable condition,
please contact us at:
as soon as reasonably possible.
We may request photographs or other information to assess the issue.
24. Condition of Books
Books provided through the rental service are pre-owned or reusable library/rental inventory unless expressly stated otherwise.
Reasonable signs of prior use may therefore exist.
Examples of ordinary wear may include:
- minor cover wear;
- light page marks;
- small creases;
- normal handling marks.
Such ordinary wear does not necessarily constitute damage.
We aim to provide books in a clean and reasonably usable condition.
25. Customer Responsibility for Books
Once a book is delivered to you, you are responsible for taking reasonable care of it until it is returned to The Reading Nest.
You should:
- keep books dry;
- protect them from food and liquids;
- keep them away from pets where reasonably possible;
- avoid writing or drawing in them;
- avoid tearing pages;
- avoid folding pages;
- avoid removing labels;
- keep all parts of the book together.
26. Damage, Loss or Non-Return
If a book is:
- lost;
- stolen;
- substantially damaged;
- destroyed;
- deliberately altered;
- rendered unusable;
- not returned after reasonable reminders;
The Reading Nest may require appropriate compensation or replacement, subject to applicable law and the circumstances.
Any amount claimed should be reasonable and proportionate to the actual loss or replacement/repair cost.
We may consider:
- age and condition of the book;
- extent of damage;
- whether repair is possible;
- replacement availability;
- original acquisition/replacement cost;
- circumstances reported by the member.
27. Normal Wear and Tear
Members will not ordinarily be charged merely because a book shows reasonable wear arising from normal reading and handling.
The purpose of the service is to allow children to actually read and enjoy physical books.
Reasonable wear is therefore distinguished from:
negligence, intentional damage, misuse, loss or destruction.
28. Return of Books
Members must return books according to the return instructions applicable to their membership and rental cycle.
Returns may be completed through:
- scheduled pickup;
- designated collection;
- other methods communicated by The Reading Nest.
The applicable return method may depend on your service area.
29. Return Timing
Books should be returned within the timeframe communicated for the relevant rental cycle.
Prompt returns are important because the same physical inventory may be required by another member.
If a book is not returned within the applicable period, The Reading Nest may:
- send reminders;
- temporarily restrict additional selections;
- suspend certain membership benefits;
- arrange a delayed pickup;
- seek reasonable compensation for loss or damage where applicable.
30. Exchange of Books
Where your membership allows exchanges, you may request another book after completing the applicable return/selection process.
Exchange availability depends on:
- membership entitlement;
- book availability;
- service area;
- return status;
- operational schedules.
The current Website specifically promotes a “Return. Exchange. Discover Again.” reading journey. The Reading Nest
31. No Automatic Right to Keep Books
A member cannot retain a book indefinitely simply because:
- the membership remains active;
- the membership has been renewed;
- another book has not yet been selected;
- the member has not received a reminder.
Books remain rental inventory and must be returned according to the applicable rental rules.
32. Membership Expiry
When a membership expires:
- membership benefits end;
- book-selection privileges may end;
- new rentals may be restricted;
- outstanding books remain subject to return obligations.
Expiry of the membership does not cancel your obligation to return books already supplied.
33. Membership Cancellation
You may request cancellation of a membership by contacting:
Cancellation does not automatically mean that the membership fee will be refunded.
Refund eligibility depends on:
- the plan purchased;
- whether membership access has commenced;
- whether books have already been selected or delivered;
- the applicable refund policy;
- applicable consumer law.
34. Refunds
The Reading Nest will process eligible refunds in accordance with its published refund/cancellation policy and applicable law.
Where a service has not been provided as represented, is materially deficient, or another refund is legally required, the relevant refund rights will apply.
The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules require e-commerce entities to provide clear information relating to return, refund, exchange, delivery and related matters. Consumer Affairs
35. Refund Method
Where a refund is approved, we may generally process it through the original payment method or another appropriate method permitted by the payment provider and applicable law.
The time required for a refund to appear in a customer’s account may depend partly on the bank, card network, UPI provider or payment gateway.
36. Failed Payments
If payment is:
- declined;
- reversed;
- disputed;
- charged back;
- cancelled;
- not received;
The Reading Nest may suspend activation or access associated with the unpaid transaction until the matter is resolved.
37. Chargebacks
If you believe a payment was incorrect or unauthorized, please contact us first:
We will reasonably investigate payment disputes.
Unjustified or fraudulent chargebacks may result in temporary account restrictions while the matter is investigated.
This does not restrict any lawful consumer right to dispute an unauthorized transaction.
38. Prohibited Use
You agree not to use the Website or service to:
- commit fraud;
- provide false information;
- circumvent membership restrictions;
- create duplicate accounts to obtain additional benefits;
- abuse promotional offers;
- resell membership access;
- resell rented books;
- transfer books to unrelated persons;
- misuse payment systems;
- interfere with the Website;
- introduce malware;
- attempt unauthorized access;
- scrape or copy protected Website content in an abusive manner;
- infringe intellectual property rights;
- engage in unlawful activities.
39. Account Suspension
We may temporarily suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary because of:
- suspected fraud;
- payment abuse;
- repeated non-return of books;
- serious or repeated book damage;
- unauthorized account use;
- abusive behaviour toward staff;
- misuse of the Website;
- material breach of these Terms.
Where reasonably appropriate, we may provide the customer an opportunity to resolve the issue.
40. Termination
We may terminate or suspend access to the service where a customer materially breaches these Terms or applicable law.
Termination does not eliminate obligations that arose before termination.
For example, if a membership ends while a customer still has Reading Nest books, those books must still be returned.
41. Intellectual Property
The Reading Nest owns or has appropriate rights to use its:
- logo;
- brand name;
- Website design;
- original graphics;
- original photographs;
- text;
- layouts;
- illustrations;
- marketing materials;
- software/code to the extent owned or licensed.
These materials may not be copied, reproduced, modified or commercially exploited without appropriate permission.
42. Book Copyright
Books available through The Reading Nest remain protected by applicable copyright and intellectual-property laws.
Your membership provides access to the physical book for reading/rental purposes.
It does not grant permission to:
- reproduce the book;
- scan the book;
- distribute digital copies;
- commercially exploit the content;
- upload copyrighted material;
- reproduce substantial portions unlawfully.
43. Website Content
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on the Website is useful and current.
However, certain information may change, including:
- book availability;
- collection size;
- membership availability;
- delivery areas;
- delivery schedules;
- membership prices;
- book descriptions;
- images;
- recommendations.
We may correct errors or update information where necessary.
44. Book Images and Descriptions
Book cover images, descriptions and illustrations are intended to help customers identify and understand books.
Actual physical copies may differ slightly in:
- cover design;
- edition;
- printing;
- colour;
- publisher format.
Where edition-specific information is important, the applicable details should be confirmed with The Reading Nest before selection.
45. Recommendations
Age categories and recommendations are intended as general guidance.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for deciding whether a particular book is appropriate for their child.
The Reading Nest does not guarantee that every book will be suitable for every child merely because it appears under a particular age/category.
46. Educational Information
The Website may describe books as educational, learning-oriented or suitable for certain age groups.
Such descriptions are intended for general informational purposes and should not be interpreted as a professional educational, psychological or medical assessment.
47. User Reviews and Testimonials
Users may voluntarily provide reviews or testimonials.
The Reading Nest may moderate content that is:
- unlawful;
- abusive;
- defamatory;
- misleading;
- offensive;
- discriminatory;
- spam;
- unrelated to the service;
- infringing third-party rights.
We may remove or decline to publish such content.
48. Book Requests and Suggestions
Submitting a suggestion does not create ownership rights in the suggested book, catalogue, idea or collection strategy.
The Reading Nest remains free to determine which books it acquires and includes in its collection.
49. Third-Party Services
The Website may use third-party services including:
- payment gateways;
- delivery services;
- hosting providers;
- email providers;
- analytics services;
- security services;
- communication providers.
Those services may have their own terms and policies.
The Reading Nest is not responsible for independent services outside its reasonable control.
50. Website Availability
We aim to keep the Website available, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
The Website may temporarily be unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- server problems;
- security incidents;
- software updates;
- hosting failures;
- internet outages;
- third-party service failures;
- events outside our reasonable control.
51. Force Majeure
The Reading Nest will not be responsible for delays or inability to perform caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

- epidemics;
- government restrictions;
- strikes;
- civil disturbances;
- transport disruptions;
- major technology outages;
- payment-network failures;
- internet outages;
- courier disruptions;
- war or similar events.
Where possible, we will take reasonable steps to resume service.
52. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Reading Nest will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
However, nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict liability that cannot legally be excluded, including rights and remedies available to consumers under applicable law.
We also do not seek to exclude liability arising from our own fraud, deliberate misconduct or other liability that cannot legally be limited.
53. Service Interruptions
Temporary interruption of a third-party service does not automatically constitute cancellation of your membership.
For example, temporary:
- payment gateway downtime;
- hosting downtime;
- delivery disruption;
- communication outage;
may affect service availability without permanently terminating the membership.
Where an interruption materially affects a paid service, The Reading Nest will consider an appropriate resolution consistent with the circumstances and applicable law.
54. Customer Communications
By creating an account or purchasing a membership, you agree that The Reading Nest may contact you regarding:
- your account;

56. Children’s Use of the Service
The Website and membership purchasing service are intended to be used by adults, parents and guardians.
Children may read books supplied under an adult’s membership.
Parents/guardians are responsible for:
- supervising children’s use of the service;
- deciding which books are appropriate;
- ensuring children handle books responsibly;
- ensuring account/payment credentials are not used without authorization.
57. No Guarantee of Unlimited Availability
Marketing statements about a broad or growing collection do not mean every title is simultaneously available.
The Website currently promotes the idea of continually discovering books and adding fresh choices to the collection. The Reading Nest
Physical inventory remains subject to availability.
58. Fair Use of Membership
Memberships are intended for the household/member for whom they were purchased.
A membership should not be:
- resold;

- used to circumvent book-selection limits.
We may restrict accounts where there is evidence of systematic misuse.
59. Promotional Offers
From time to time, The Reading Nest may offer:

We will not intentionally remove a material paid benefit during an active fixed-term membership without appropriate consideration of applicable contractual and consumer rights.
61. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when:
- our services change;
- membership plans change;
- rental processes change;
- technology changes;
- legal requirements change.
The latest version will be published on the Website.
